Which light bulb will be outlawed next?

I can't remember where I saw it now but I definitely read somewhere last week online that the EU is considering banning down-lighter and spotlight bulbs after the recent banning of 100 watt lightbulbs.

If you've got fancy light fittings buried in your ceilings - I suggest you stock up now.

Confused by the recent Emissions Deadlines stories?

The Chaos of the Copenhagen Summit in December 2009 continues with news a couple of weeks ago that the Deadline for emission targets was likely to be delayed as countries within the EU battled it out.

One of the main problems is the 'EU's agreed amount of 30% emissions cut which in the case of the UK, means a cut of 42%.

Countries are unwilling to agree to targets that could see industrial competitors in other countries grow stronger if they're not affected by the same higher energy costs.

An additional 10p incentive on Feed in Tariffs - all that is needed

As consultations came to a close last week on Feed-in Tariffs (where users are paid a set tariff for any solar energy they put back into the grid over and above their own usage), ahead of their introduction next April (2010), Andrew Lee, the General Manager of Sharp Energy Solutions Europe, the UK's largest solar module manufacturer, talked about how an increase in the incentives could provide thousands of jobs in the UK.

"The tariff will set the precedent for how solar technology is to be embraced in the UK, and how we as a nation can meet the 2020 targets set by the EU. The proposed Tariff needs to be carefully set"
