More than one way to reduce a companies carbon footprint

In a time of energy and resources conservation, I never cease to be amazed at the wads of brochures, industry news magazines and flyers that continue to fall, unbidden, onto my desk on a daily basis.

Of course we all know where we can stick the majority of it - in the recycling.

However I do sometimes feel compelled to open the occasional one - got to take them out of their plastic wrappers to recycle anyway so why not?

Then whilst flicking through the pages of todays offering, I spotted this headline:

"Two years on, one company has used video conferencing to reduce its emissions by 40,000kg of CO2 a year"

The story centres around a public sector services provider with an 11,000 workforce that manages vital infrastructure at around 200 locations in the UK. As many of their clients are government organisations, they're often asked for their 'green credentials' and how they fit in with overall government savings.

The company reckon installing the video conferencing system means less travel and is heavily contributing to the companies goal of a 10% reduction in its emissions.

The company also cites the improved worker health and safety by reducing the amount of physical travel whilst also improving their work-life balance alongside productivity and communications.

So far, it's turning out to be a productive morning...

Don't forget, our Solar Panel Quoter website is not just for home installations. We can give you an instant online price guide for your solar energy requirements too.
