£19bn to 'clean up' the North Sea

£19bn - that's the cost (according to a BBC report) over the next 30 years to dismantle North Sea oil and gas platforms - around 260 in total to be decommissioned.

Whilst the salvage industry is excited at such a whopping pay day, there's an acknowledgement that the present infrastructure of vessels and de-commissioning yards isn't equipped to cope with the scale of the job.

When you throw in the harsh environment those companies are going to be working in, it sounds like money well earned to me.

On the flip side, the prospect is good for jobs and the economy as well as the environment.

Stay safe guys!
