Schools competing for free solar panels - deadline 22nd oct

Schools are being urged to take advantage of a British Gas offer to give away £15 million of solar panel installations, applications for which ends on October 22nd.

In applying, schools will need to demonstrate that they are amongst the most sustainable in the country reports the Hampshire Chronicle.

Up to 750 schools could share the prize with around half of the installations taking place on schools in low-income areas.

The installations could cut 20% of the schools electricity bills. The schools will also receive an energy meter so both they, and the pupils, can see exactly how much energy they're saving. Solar panels are a great school science resource.

To enter, schools should complete the short application form on the British Gas Generation Green website.
