Former WW2 airfield to become first solar park

Business Green tells us that an investment firm has received permission to develop a solar park on a runway at the former Westcott airfield in Buckinghamshire.

The plan will see 1,500 panels set up in the middle of runway 31. They'll have a combined capacity of around 350kW.

The owners hope it will be able to power the whole of a neighbouring industrial estate, presently home to 70 companies.

The scheme is being heralded as an example of how useful 'brown site' development can be.

Construction will start in the New Year with a planned finish in the Spring.

Happy Landings?
