11 solar panels help Alveston School's Science Lab'

An Alveston school is already planning it's next 'green lab feature' after just having 11 solar panels installed on the science lab's roof.

The power they provide will go towards running the lab equipment with any surplus being sold back to the Grid.

The panels cost £15,000 to install and were funded by grants from the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, a Grammar School Trust and a Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

The solar panels will feature in a variety of curriculum activities for students across the whole of the school.

In addition to the solar panels, Marlwood School is also considering other features for lab including energy saving lighting, insulation and a rainwater harvesting system.
